Mac Wireless Keyboard Fix for Battery Contact

Thursday February 23, 2012

If you work on a Mac desktop you will have to replace your keyboard batteries from time to time. Sadly, as you continue to extract and put in new batteries, the spring looses it’s contact to the positive end of the battery.

Today after I put in new batteries, the green light would not even turn on. After some time trying 4 different types of AA batteries I went searching online for a DIY solution rather than buy another $70 keyboard.

Sure enough, hundreds out there have this same problem. The fix is taking a pea size ball of aluminum foil and dropping it in the tube. Then press all three batteries in and screw/push hard the top cap with a penny.

Now rather than having one bad point of contact, you have numerous because of the squished aluminum. Bingo, it works!
